so many others I was compelled to design by the events of 9/11/01.
This concept was completed within two weeks of that day. I wanted
to design something loving, honoring, unafraid and elegant. But I
also wanted it protective. The protection comes not only from the
"cell" construction, but also from gravity driven composite
panels which drop to sheild the structure's exterior in less than
one minute. |
