Sacred Geometry: The Painting The poster Sacred Geometry II is a full-color reproduction of a 5' x 5' painting, created by artist and architect George Holman to illustrate the confluence of many systems of cosmic symbolization. The painting--one of several in a series of works intended to provide visual representations of the principles which unify the material and spiritual dimensions of existence--is now owned by noted physician and philosopher Larry Dossey, author of such important works as Space, Time, and Medicine, Beyond Illness, and Healing Words. Although the beauty of the painting is immediately evident, the amount of information contained in the work is not so obvious.
Sacred Geometry II is composed of many symbol systems overlaid upon one another and integrated to form a single visual representation. Some of these symbol systems (such as Stonehenge and the Great Pyramid of Cheops at Gizeh) are actual structures; some, including the plan for the New Jerusalem as revealed by St. John, and the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, are ideas described in sacred literature. Also incorporated is one of the most potent mythic themes of Western civilization, the Quest for the Holy Grail, as well as the correlation between Pangea (now thought to have been the original continental formation of our planet) and the ancient Taoist description of earth's energy fields
The mathematical principles which underlie all of these symbol systems are faithfully represented in the work. Proportions are exact in every respect. The geometry incorporated into the image creates subliminal "messages" that are part of the work's power, but the proportions and relationships can be explicated and understood on the conscious level as well.
